What is the answer to this question?
My fiancé and I had an unprotected sex and we regret doing that. Her periods usually come around the 15 or 17 of every month but this month her period never came, so we did the pregnancy test using the e.p.t test on December 25, 2006 during Christmas after 8-10 days after her missed period and the results were negative.

My question is that how accurate are the results? did she take the test at the right time or was it to late, should she take another pregnancy test? If so which one is best recommended? What are the chances that the results are not correct? The result only showed as “pregnant “ or as “not pregnant.” Please answer this question. She had her period today just a while ago.

The best time to test is at least two weeks after a missed period, and a blood test is the most accurate way of testing so I would advise that she wait a few more days and see her doctor to be tested. I have seen many a time when an hpt is inaccurate so a blood test is best. Two weeks gives the body enough time to produce an adequate amount of pregnancy hormone that is detected by a test. Other reasons for period abnormalities include stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. If the blood test comes back negative, her doctor should do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

You've answered your own question, the test read negative, and she has started her cycle. Yes the tests when used correctly, are very accurate.
For future references, use a home pregnancy test anytime after six weeks from the first day of your last period.

Pregnancy tests are 99.9% correct I think. And if her period came she's not pregnate. But I do know someone who had their period, and still were pregnate. I suggest you go see a doctor about this, because it may be more serious than you may think. Or you could go to Yahoo!'s search engine and type in questions concerning pregnancy. But it may be nothing because a woman's period can never be correctly predicted, every single time.

Most of those tests are pretty accurate. However, if you are still unsure and you have insurance, go to the doctor and for a 20-25 $ copay you can be sure. If no insurance, go to your local clinic and they should be able to help you out.
