I take them just for the extra vitamins and then just in case I will have had them in my system. My OB says 3 months before you try to start trying. But good to have them just in case a surprise should happen

Most doctors will recommend that you start taking Pre-natal vitamins as soon as you decide to 'try' to have a baby.
I would say wait on the prenatals until you decide to stop your birth control pills. :) It's always a good idea to use condoms if you're not activly trying to concieve.
I've used both over the counter, and prescriptions pre-natals, and I've never noticed a difference in the two, other than the levels of certain vitamins. You might want to try using a daily multivitamin for now, and then switch to a prescribed pre-natal vitamin when a doctor does notify you of a pregnancy.

Now! Folic Acid is very important to have built up in your body before you get pregnant because it is vital in the very early days of pregnancy. I don't think it matters which vitamins you take as long as they prenatal. My doctor said that over the counter ones are fine. If you have problems with them (my sister gets an upset stomach from them) then you would need prescription ones.

It wouldn't make much sense to start taking prenatal vitamins now and your still on bill control pills. and it really doesn't matter if their over their counter or prescribed. The doctor may be able to prescribe some that are sweet if you don't like take pills.

A regular multi vitamin that you can purchase OTC is fine for now. Once you get closer to the end of your two year mark. I suggest increasing your Folic acid intake, an extra glass of orange juice a day would suffice. As long as you are on birth control pills and using condoms together it is very unlikely that you should be able to concieve.

optimal scientific docs will propose which you start up taking Pre-natal supplementations as rapidly as you establish to 'attempt' to have a infant. i could say wait on the prenatals till finally you establish to give up your transport administration pills. :) it extremely is oftentimes an remarkable theory to persist with condoms whilst you at the instant are not to any extent further activly attempting to concieve. i've got have been given used the two over the counter, and prescriptions pre-natals, and that i've got have been given below no circumstances talked approximately a difference in the two, distinctive than the levels of particular supplementations. it extremely is somewhat functional to purpose making use of a on a regular basis multivitamin for now, and then change to a prescribed pre-natal nutrients whilst a physician does notify you of a being pregnant.

According to my OB/GYN she told me that I should start taking prenatal vitamins 2 - 3 montsh before trying to concieve and stopping the pill. I think once you get the time that's right for you planned out begin to take them a couple months before you plan to quit taking your pills.

Ideally you should start taking prenatal vitamins three months before you try to conceive. Prescription prenatal vitamins can be EXPENSIVE. Taking OTC's beforehand should be fine.
