My friend and I are graduating from college this spring and plan on taking jobs in Boston, MA. We are both from New York so we are not familiar with the Boston Proper area. What is a young, safe and lively place for us to settle down, that has access to the T and is an easy commute to Downtown Boston? Thanks!

In addition to the above answers... Allston and Brighton. In Allston you will have access to the green line (T) With Brighton you might have to rely on the bus, but still close to downtown. Brookline is very nice, but very expensive. Jamaica Plain is inexpensive and accessible by the orange line.

My top choices would be Brighton or Jamaica Plain, but any of the places mentioned so far are all great neighborhoods. I love Brookline as well but more expensive. I live in Brighton right near the Allston line also near Brookline, and it's between Boston University and Boston College, so very young and lots of restaurants and bars, right on the T. Easy commute and safe.

I would avoid Dorchester, Roxbury, or Mattapan.

As mentioned above, your financial situation really does matter. My daughter lives in Beacon Hill, which is expensive and very safe, but she got lucky and found a sublet. It's a great area for access to the T and she can walk to downtown Boston. She was considering Jamaica Plains too, but transportation is difficult in the winter.

All of the places mentioned are great to live - you can also look into Quincy. Just south of Boston access to T and not as expensive as living directly in the city!

I had a lengthy distance courting at the same time as i replaced into in college. It replaced into extremely difficult yet we made it. we are now married and awaiting our 2d toddler. it ought to exercising recurring. besides the indisputable fact that, if you're at a level the position you experience like until eventually you're at the same time, you may't proceed on with the courting then you extremely might want to end it. Distance is amazingly difficult, yet once you're meant to be at the same time you'll live on the gap. If shifting to be close to one yet another is the basically thanks to maintain your courting, i does not do it. shifting to extra your courting, or to strenghten that is a diverse situation, yet shifting to ward off ending it isn't an excellent theory. that's basically my opinion, and obviously there's a lot extra to the difficulty than what you need to write on your question. with somewhat of luck you'll make the right selection. good success!!
