A lot of different people have different opinions, which I welcome them all, but many people answer that liberals are bad because they're destroying American tradition and values. One says: "more babies are murdered than soldiers," as a Liberal myself I do not support the murder of human babies, if you refer to abortion, then please rephrase the statement.

Another says that Liberals give criminals too much rights. Criminals have as much citizen rights as every other person within the borders of the country. You're to quick to judge on criminals, yet if you're ever in trouble you'd want the help of a Liberal lawyer.

Many people give biased and insulting answers. If you can't answer in a proper and civilized way then please refrain from doing it at all.

Then those same people that act like Neanderthals complain about Liberals destroying American tradition.

Well I am a liberal and I am damn proud of it! Liberals have been the driving force of this nation, and it's insane for you to even have to ask this question. It just goes to show how our founding fathers liberal beliefs have been circumvented. Just look at some of these answers you have gotten! Most of these people have no clue as to what liberals even stand for, it is really just so sad see.

The Constitution and Declaration of Independence are "Liberal" documents, and one answerer thinks that liberals are trying to destroy the Constitution, it's unbelievable.

Well one of the liberal cornerstones is education, apparently not enough is being done to improve it, when the majority doesn't even understand the basics of our political system. This stuff is basic high school Social Studies stuff, yet it is only a few that even know the differences in political ideologies. I am astounded by the ignorance!

Because so many people are conservatives.

That said, my favorite answer on here is the one that discusses bigger government, quoting the Constitution as showing how the federal government is not supposed to be too powerful. Meanwhile, the size of the government has grown more in the first six years of Bush's administration than it did the entire eight years of Clinton's, and the government is interfering more and more in our personal lives, while the executive branch is more powerful than it has been in 30 years. Does that make Bush a liberal? LOL!

Because liberalism requires a bigger government, with more power over our lives. Many of us would rather take our chances with life, instead of letting the government decide what's best for us. Also, the Constitution is clearly written to limit the power of the federal government. I personally have no problem with individual states choosing any ideology they want. But having it forced upon us by congress, the president, or the almost 3 million unelected federal bureaucrats, is a direct violation of the Constitution.

I included a link to the Constitution. If you can show me what part of it gives the federal government the power to get involved with education, I'd like to see it. The Constitution gives a few very specific powers to the the federal government, and and forbids it from interfering with anything else. If you don't like what it says, that's your choice. But if you're going to make claims as to what it is, please show your evidence. To support my claims, I refer you to the tenth amendment:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. "

I don't think liberals are considered bad! being an ex liberal myself I think the problem lies in naivety and idealism. Most people when they are young are liberals after all most young people are naive and idealistic.
But as you grow and mature you realize that the human condition is not as simplistic and easy to resolve as you once thought and you begin to look at the world in a more pragmatic perspective.
That is why as you age and mature it is natural to become a conservative, but not everyone loses that naivety with age hence we still have our Jimmy Carter's and Hillary Clinton

I think it used to be a better thing. Unfortunately, there are a lot of issues that have been taken way too far.

I look at Alan Colmes (FOX News' punching bag - gotta love his spirit) and he is what I call an 'old school' liberal. Even he agrees that certain far-left causes are over the top.

For the same reason that being considered a conservative is bad. Talk radio and political TV people from both schools of thought make a living criticizing those who disagree with them, and they wouldn't be able to make a living if they treated them with respect, courtesy, and acted like reasonable human beings.

WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION! They have to use class warfare as a means to get many programs passed. We will use national healthcare as an example. Many of the people touting National health care, have stated, why should the rich, only be able to afford healthcare? Well who is going to pay for it? The poor, the middle class, or the rich? The rich pay more than their share now and are always expected to pay more with a smile on their face. I call it theft!

Being a liberal implies deviating from our founding principles. The terms conservative and liberal are relative terms, implying one's opinions about constitutional liberties.

In a nutshell, liberals often want control over other people's money, freedom, etc. in ways that are detrimental to our society's well being. Otherwise, they want social freedoms that are detrimental to society's well being. So what liberals really want is to radicalize or transfigure our economy and culture as to make it unrecognizable (i.e. broken).

Because of thier beliefs. Anti-God, Anti-capitalism, anti-death penalty, but pro abortion, Pro-gay everything, Reimbursement for slavery, Re-distribution of people's private wages (I'm going to take money from your pay check and give it somebody else), Pro-government programs and taxes, against every security issue- including voting against military upgrades, the patroit act, checking bags at airports. They believe in no accountabilty - for example a liberal judge gave a man 60 days in jail after raping a 4 yearold girl consistantly over a 4 year process. Check the name - John Conner of Vermont.

Starch conservatives consider being a liberal a bad thing. Why do liberals consider being a conservative to be a bad thing?

It's the classic....I have my point of view and anything that opposes my point of view is a bad thing...scenario. People can't accept the fact that there are opposing view points.
