maybe not so much today because the sexism against women has simmered down but in society it ha always been that because "a woman could not provide" her husband with a son he took a second wife and blamed her for not fulfilling her responsibility...
with the education of today they should al know that the sperm determines the child's gender....then really they should blame themselves if they want boys so badly!
where is the sense in that? and plus i know there are still a few families who treat women like that and i am certain that they prefer boys over girls...why? and how dare they blame their wives when it is entirely their doing.
dont indians worship god in the form of a female as well...then why is that goddess to worshipped and this woman to be given the value of a servant and a burden if she is born to you?

women dont control which sperm reaches the egg either..
im not saying it is the man's fault or choice it is just that he should consider this when blaming th wife that if there IS someone to blame it is him and no unless you are a biologist or much learned in the field i do believe that an egg is always X and a sperm is the one that varies

try going to an Indian village and telling them about how it's the sperms fault. No one would understand. The problem is that of illiteracy and hence ignorance. The uneducated would tend to think that since the mother bears the child, the baby's sex would be determined by her.

So, your question begins with "how can men...." Well, this should tell you something...ha-ha There have always been people (in this case, men) who think they have to play the blame-game. It's always someone elses fault, right? The thing here is that should not even be an issue. I agree with you that some cultures believe boy babies are better than girls and they blame the wife for not bearing a boy baby. It is VERY sad, because EVERY baby, boy OR girl, is a wonderful gift and should be thought of as such. This is definitly not the time to play the blame-game. Some people believe that boys are easier to raise than girls. I believe it depends on who's doing the raising.

In the old days it was our fault due to ignorance. Men were the masters and we were just chattel, property. If we didn't provide a son we were defective and could be cast aside, replaced.
Today there is thankfully a thing called science that has proven that it is the man who determines the sex of the child and not the woman.
The man plants the seed and the woman is the garden and grows it. If the man wants a son instead of a daughter he should have planted the "Y" chromosome instead of the "X" one

some guys sadly dont know this K L is definately wrong the man having XY cromosomes can either give the x or y cromosome and women being xx can only give an x, but i dont see why a man would blame a woman even if it was the womans cromosomes that determined the sex, its not like its something that one can control

I have NEVER heard of a man blaming his wife for the gender of their child. Maybe you should be associating with a better class of people, or maybe you shouldn't judge almost half the human population based on your probably miniscule experience.
