Oh, no. It doesn't hurt and you can't stop it. It just flows. My pants got wet eventhough I had pads on. It's really a lot of water coming out. I had to put plastic on the seat of the car so it wouldn't get wet on our way to the hospital.

BTW, contractions hurt. Like severe menstrual cramps.

It feels like your peeing and cant stop. When I had my son I woke up one morning and thought I peed the bed, I couldnt stop what I thought was peeing. I had no idea my water broke till I called my mom and asked her if it was normal to pee a lot late in a pregnancy. I had no idea what to expect either. She made me call my husband and go to the hospital 3 hours later I had a wonderful baby boy. I didnt feel no pain really at all just a slight cramping feeling.

To me it didn't hurt in fact I didn't even know it was happening. I woke up to pee but then I just couldn't stop,. It didn't come out in one big rush like on tv. it was more like I was peeing myself occasionally - my husband and i were actually laughing about it because we didn't know what was happening so he was on the net and i was on teh phone laughing away asking people. And no, I couldn't stop it from coming out. Then the contractions came in which felt like really bad period cramps so that was more uncomfortable. One good thing about it all is, you don't really remmeber the pain of anything that happens after that :D GOod luck!

My water broke with my second child when I was sleeping. It did not hurt, but my feet got wet. With my first child the doctor broke it, it was uncomfortable when he was doing it but it did not hurt. You can not stop it, I don't think. It's a lot of fluid. If you are standing up the babies head will stop most of the fluid from coming out.

I was fast asleep both times mine broke on it's own. Didn't hurt. I woke up fast though! Lots and Lots of water! With my daughter it stopped. However she was laying she pulled the hole. It was nice. With my second child I wasn't so lucky. Had to sit on towels all the way to the hospital.
My doctor broke my water with child #3. That didn't hurt either.

YOU NEED TO GET A BIG GLASS OF WATER THE BIGGEST YOU HAVE IF YOU DRINK IT AND IT GOES IN AND COMES STRAIGHT OUT THEM YOUR WATER HAS BROKEN. AND BY STRAIGHT OUT I MEAN IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE PEEING ON YOUR SELF. IT HAPPEND TO ME AND THAT IS THE ONLY WAY I KNEW MY WATER BROKE. AND YES THE PAINS ARE GOING TO HURT MORE NAD MORE AS TIME GOES BY TILL IT IS HARD TO WALK. IF THIS IS THE CASE CALL 911 OR GO TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT AWAY.

It nornally does not hurt unless you are having contractions when it breaks. It will feel like warm water running down your leg, thats about it.
