I know this question is asked a lot, but I want to know how long the antibiotic is still in my body?

The only difference is that I only took the antibiotic for one day (i know you are supposed to keep taking it, i don't need a lecture.) I had a UTI and was taking 500mg pill of Ciprofloxacin. I only took the 2 pills that are required in one day and my symptoms cleared up very quickly. I want to know what kind of threat this poses to my bc pill (I take ortho tri-cyclen lo). I am 'scheduled' to start my period next tuesday.

Does anyone know how long it would last if I only took it the one day? And, does anybody know where I can find statistics on birth control and antibiotics? Thanks =]

I once asked a pharmacist about how antibiotics effect the Pill... I was told that taking antibiotics makes the pill only 98% effective (instead of 99.9%).

I have no clue if what he told me is completely accurate, but I would hope that he would be well informed in something like that.

Perhaps your best bet is to talk to your pharmacist or physician and see what they have to say.

I would use a barrier contraceptive just in case until you are done with your period that is getting ready to start soon, although I'm sure risk of pregnancy is low. I'm still taking antibiotics for strep I had last week and that is what my doctor told me.
