You can set an email to give you a confirmation, like if has been received or read.

Usually the mail server send back a confirmation if the email that you are trying to reach doenst exists or the mailbox is full. But you can also (from outlook for example) set to get a read confirmation.

it means the email programer was too lazy to send it and is sending it back asking you to retry.
Also it may contain a spelling error or the server is having technical difficulties

Either you typed in their email wrong or their email address is not valid.
