I'm sorry, but the critics seem to be really ticked about this film. What could M. Night have possibly put into this movie that really got the film critics' goat? I have not seen it yet, so people who have seen it please answer with no spoilers. Thanks and Happy New Year!

People expect a certain caliber of film from Night and this did not deliver that. It was perceived as weak all around (weak actin, weak directing, weak script, etc., etc., etc.)

Personally I liked the film. I thought is was well done and the story was much better than The Village. I think critics just hated The Village and allowed that hatred to spill over onto this film. Believe me it's decent and holds your attention. However, it is really freakin' long!

M. Night Shyamalan has an ego that is too large, and Lady In The Water is a manifestation of that ego.
It is based on a story HE told to HIS kids. A story that HE loves and would make a great film to add to HIS repetoire.
The problem is, nobody else gives a hoot about HIS stupid little bedtime story.

Me, I didn't hate it. I thought it was actually pretty good. It was way better that The Village & Signs. I personally thought Signs and The Village were a waste of my time. Although it wasn't better that The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable. See it for yourself. It's kind of like The Godfather 3, it was good but not a lot of people really understood it

i haven't seen it and i won't. i had friends see it and they didn't give it a good review. and it seems that so far, m. night's standing record with me is everything is subpar except sixth sense. the rest of it is just middle of the road. and this is probably no exception. maybe one day i'll watch it but i'm not in any hurry to line his pockets with my money.

I haven't seen it either, but I noticed the same thing. I plan on seeing it (its on my netflix list), but I can't imagine its that bad

If it sucked as bad as the "Villiage" I can image in why everyone hates it 'cause that one really pissed me off!
