The ones who fill the stadiums on a regular basis should.
Oh wait, that means none of them should.
I'm not degrading women athletes, only stating that the amount athletes get paid is directly linked to how many fans they have and who will pay to go see them.

Ladies should recieve the same prize money as men. They both play best of 3 sets in regular tournies. But the argument is usually based on how many sets in grandslams and such: the men work harder blah blah blah.
They attract as many attention as men in the tennis world, perhaps even more. Ladies show you the proper technique in tennis. Sure, the men have Federer and such, but the ladies... Hingis, Clijsters, Henine, Mauresmo, Sharapova... Look closely, beyond the grunting and matchpoints, and you have top-class technique. Men with no sense for the game will tell you something along: hell no! they can't hit to save their lives!
I can only reply to that saying that, well... there is no life without the ladies. If you want technique, you rarely pick a man for it. Once tennis loses that, it becomes like soccer: mindless. That is not the essense of our game. The ladies deserve the same rewards as men. Though they lack in physical power, the far exceed in the essence of the game itself.

Yes, and I feel very strongly about this highly controversial topic. My boyfriend disagrees, because the men play best 3 out of 5 in the grand slams, while the ladies are only best 2 out of 3, but men and women are NOT built the same physically and we clearly cannot be expected to perform at the same level as the men.

Tennis is so great. Yes, WTA should be getting the same amount as ATP. People who think they should not also believe in general women should be paid less by men for the same work and that is crazy. And the five-set argument is crap - a lot of people like me hate sitting through some five-setter in a Slam, especially waiting to see a favorite player play.
I also believe tennis players (both genders) should be paid more than golfers, imo.

Yes they should. The training, skills and athleticism required to play professional sport requires dedication and a singular attitude. This in no way infers that women and men should compete against each other. They are different (& viva le difference!) and should only compete against their own gender. I think the difference in prizemoney is a remnant of the time when women were not paid as much as men in the workforce. It is a remnant which should be eradicated.

Yes, they should. That argument of 3 sets vs. 5 sets is ridiculous. You cannot measure tennis like a taximeter. Women tennis has the same entertainment value as Men Tennis. Sometimes Women's matches are faster, with longer rallies making them more entertaining than men's. (A humble opinion)
Bear in mind that the muscular mass in males is greater than in females, a 5 set women match would be very boring after the 4th set with two ladies having barely enough strength to stand on their feet... unless it's two women who look like freaking Silvester Stalone in drag and that my friend, ain't a pretty picture !

Yes, they work just as hard as the men and compete just as hard as the men.
To suggest women should compete against men is absolutely absurd...yeah I also think they would all lose, ('cept Billie Jean King ;)} but have you seen the anatomical differences between men and women....!!! Only a man that is really insecure would even think about competing against women... every real man out there would open his eyes and see why it would be wrong to make women who are built completely different to men compete against them.
And then in contrast to most sports womens tennis is on par with mens tennis regarding the number of fans.
