While Americans should really take a look OUT side from the USA that people from all around the world still really love Whitney's voice a lot. People in Asian continent and European continent still love her so much. Her drugs abuse moments before seem didn't affect their love from Whitney. They still expect Whitney to comeback all the time. When Whitney did a huge gig in China back in 2004 (while she was in her 'darkest moments' in USA), people flooded in the Beijing Sport Stadium to see her alive there. Same great thing happened when she performed in Bangkok, Shanghai and Hong Kong.. all tickets sold out and no seats remained empty in her venues. She receives such a huge unconditional love from non American people. Only most people in America seem hated Whitney to death. Why is like that? Just asking...

I'm not American and not living in the USA. I'm from Europe. And many-many public spaces here put Whitney Houston's record over and over again and they put One Wish Holiday Album for sparkling the Christmas here. I wonder, base from what I read and heard, that in the USA, they hated Whitney so much. Everyone made mistakes, didn't we? So did Whitney made mistakes. Why American people cannot forgive her? While we all make mistakes the same, not even better than her... Am I right?

I think that everyone still loves Whitney & her music quite alot, I still do, but the fact of reality is that for such a woman of elegance, poise, beauty, talent, class, & the ability to make it out there as one of the best female singers of all time, she brought alot of disappointment to the world, they see her as a pillar of strenghth & they miss her the way she used to be. They're angry that she allowed her love for Bobby to cloud her mind & destroy her soul, the glow she had. but she's only human, she's not superwoman. Addiction is a disease that's very hard to fight, but we see her trying, & I salute her for that.

All humans (but Americans in particular) have the need for an "image." A need to believe that there is still good so that they don't feel alone if they try (or at least believe themselves to be good).
Americans have had the problem that they considered themselves the best in the world and had some evidence to back it up. They aren't (there is no one best in the world), but because we were the most powerful (which doesn't translate to good people) we could convince ourselves God was backing us up (rather than it was just luck of the draw during WW2 that it would be fought in an area too far to affect this country's landbase). But it is easy enough to see how Americans could convince themselves God is backing them up if they are the most powerful (whether it is true or not, though most would lean to not).
Because of this however, we expect our "leaders" to be infallible. And by leaders I don't just mean presidents or senators or congressman or judges and so on; but I mean those that we follow in all areas. In the areas of politics, literature, music, art, community, philosophy and so on. We see ourselves as infallible, so by extension if we choose leaders from amongst ourselves we must assume they are infallible. And Whitney's image went even further than most leaders of this country.
She was the beautiful girl with the great personality, she was the pinnacle and what every girl was supposed to be; what we call the All-American girl. Again that is that arrogance that is so uniquely American, probably our greatest strength and weakness at the same time; that she was "all-american" because her image was beautiful and squeaky clean. But that is beside the point.
When she lost that image by slipping into the drugs, many Americans felt betrayed. To us it was like our younger sister or daughter or our schoolboy crush having lost her mind. "How could she do such a thing?" we asked ourselves.
Should she be held to such a high standard? Obviously not, since we don't hold ourselves to such a standard. And like you said, few others in the world held her to such a standard. They remembered that she was a human and sometimes makes mistakes. We did not. It isn't fair, but that is life in the leadership of America. But I would also point out that once she quit and started working toward correcting herself, she was forgiven quite readily by the American public. America may hold standards too high, but they aren't complete demagogues. Try not to attack them too hard either, lower the standard or forgive them when they miss it (they do it for others).

I don't hate Whitney and I live in America. I know she's had some really tough times but I wish her the best! I hope she makes a huge comeback here and sells out venues here in the USA too! I'm a big fan rooting for her!

Whitney was once an icon of American music, flawless beauty, voice and great personality. Not to pass the buck, but I think everyone blames her for letting Bobby bring her down instead of just standing by him through his hard times or better yet, not even marrying him probably would've been better for her. It would've been like Princess Diana marrying Kid Rock or 50 Cent and then she starts changing into a whole different person.

The media loves to exploit celebrities at their worst. People still love Whitney and most of us are rooting for her. Since you don't live here, I imagine the only perception you have is from the press who will NEVER say anything encouraging about a celebrity. There is a show called "The Insider" that had clips of Richard Pryor when he was very sick and incapacitated and they played it for months after he died. I don't even remember seeing a clip from one of dozens of movies he has done.

You obviously did not see Being Bobby Brown. It was like watching a train wreck. You know you shouldn't look but you can't help it.
Seriously though, it was the choice she made when she decided to marry a scoundrel and the dwell in his deranged world. No one could believe that this classy gorgeous lady was taking this seriously and leaving herself behind for this shameless display.

No one is questioning her talent. But her drug abuse is something that most people in America cannot forgive.
