I had a blood test last week, today the surgery called as the doctor wants me to have another test in two weeks, I asked what was wrong with the first one and was told, the doctor will compare them once its done, should I be worried or demand the result of the first test, as being told to wait two weeks with out an explanation seems wrong to me.

Yes this does seem wrong. It may nothing but the person should have expalined to you why you need another test. I would call back and speak to a different person. Just calmly explain that you would like the results of the first test, and make an appointment for the second test. If that person still gives you the run around, ask to speak to the doctor directly.

I have had them make mistakes at the lab and the first sample was ruined. Perhaps this is what happened and they don't want to seem incompetent. I would tell them I am not giving anymore blood until I know what happened to the last sample. I would find out what the doctor is comparing them for tell them you are concerned......should you be?? If they won't reconcile then go to another doctor and get a second opinion.

Good Luck!

As a patient you have the right to know your medical test! I would demand to know the results so that you could have the piece of mind knowing whats going on

You have a right to an explanation. I would call and tell them that, or go down there and ask for a copy of the lab results. You have a legal right to all of your medical records.

Best Wishes,

Sue
