On the surface, it sounds like a good program alternative to welfare, but unfortunately it puts undue pressure on a family/person (ie single mothers, or those with disablities) to meet those expectations in order to receive their welfare funds

and in some states, if a child of the welfare dependent wants to go to school to geta better education, they would be limited to only the most basic "level" eucation (ie Associates or a technical degree), and if they watn to pursue a bachelors' then they would put the family out of its qualifications for welfare (in some states, a child can be considered as part of the famly until age 21).

those with disabilities (ie physical impairment, speech problems, mentally incapacitated, etc) would also be hindered from qualifying because they may not be able to meet the expectations of trying to get a "job" to help support themselves.

agian, nice idea on paper; in reality, it only serves to segrate people more than welfare does

AFDC = Aid to Families With Dependent CHildren.

I hope so - but it doesn't look like workfare is ever really going to do it.

Doubt it, most people on welfare have no intentions of trying to make in on their own. They are looking for a hand out not a hand up.
