well first of all mister rabbit. A "performance muffler" is actually called a "performance exhaust". There is a reason in which the word PERFORMANCE is in there.
Depending on the size of it (2.5/3') it will effect your performance, on a good or bad way. If your car is completly stock, then leave it the way it is!
A performance exhaust is soley for the reason of being able to escape the exhaust gases from the vehicles engine appropriatly while achieving high performance. A car engine is basically a big air pump, the more air you have that goes into it, the better exhaust you need for it to exit!

Honestly don't waste your money! Why you ask? Because you wont notice anything different in performance a big misunderstanding is exhaust systems make power this is wrong! You will have a shift in the power curve to make peak power. So you will lose your low and mid-range power where you spend most of your time driving = street-ability. The only benefit you will notice is if you spend all your time near the rev limiter do you drive like this? Everywhere you drive??? Think about it! $1000 id spend it on the intake more air + more fuel = more power this is how you add REAL power no question about it.

If you want power i can think of better ways to spend your money on. 1000 bucks for an exhaust is a waste of money unless your ENTIRE system is junk(falling off) why dont take that $1000 and make a couple of payments on your car, it will save you $ in the long run, and your VW wont sound like an airplane that wont take off

Why place a FART CAN muffler system, if you want a performance sound you should have saved some coin and got a V8 muscle car with dual exhaust!
Performance exhaust system you will be lucky to see 15 to 20 HP gain. Better to get a superchip/powerchip for your vehicle.

A grand sounds like a lot for any exhaust system. Unless it buys you 30-40 HP, I'd wait until the warranty is up.
