I think he was certainly more than a curiousity. His observations touched upon a lot of fields in psychology, and was a nice polar opposite to the behaviorilism.
Sigmund Freud's "The Interpretation of Dreams" is absolutely fascinating.
I don't think one theory can explain the human experience, but parts from all certainly do help. He certainly wasn't a fraud, because he wasn't engaged in fraudulent activity.

I like Sigmund Freud because of what he did for psychology. Although his theories may be a bit off, he made a point to mainstream the science further. Personally, I don't believe in many of his theories, but some do make sense to me. I would have loved to have meet him!
For that reason, I do like Sigmund Freud.
