i'll give you the general formula for equations like this, so that you don't have to torment yourself everytime.

CnH2n+2 + (3n+1/2)O2--------> n CO2 + (n+1)H2O where n is a number >=1.

so, in this case, it's
C2H6+ 7/2 O2----> 2CO2+ 3H2O

or, as the others said,
2C2H6+ 7O2----->4CO2+ 6H2O (it's the same equation, only multiplyed by to in each member)

hope it helps:)

First start by doubling the hydrocarbon 2C2H6 then balance the number of carbons with 4CO2 molecules and the number of hydrogens with 6 water molecules. Lastly balance the number of oxygens with 7 O2 molecules. When you have to balance these type of reactions it is often helpful to double the number of hydrocarbon molecules to start.
Be sure to check my work to see that it is correct.:>)

2C2H6+7O2->4CO2+6H2O this is the answer that is usually balanced by people around the world but someone can also balance this as follows but it it is not usually done.
C2H6+7/2O2->2CO2+3H2O
