If you really want to get faster, you need to run sprints. It is by far the best way to work your fast-twitch muscles. Many Pro-athletes were a parachute tpye of device on their backs to increase resistance. This helps increase strength and speed in the legs. You will definately want to time and track your progress. Start with running ten 50m sprints in succession. Do not stop and rest. Have a buddy time and record your results. I guarantee you'll be faster in 2-3 months.
For the upper body, I would recommend lifting heavy and low-reps for maximum strength and size. This is the best method for building muscle size which is primarily focused on low-twitch muscle growth.
Supplements such as Creatine work well for growing muscle. However, at your age you shouldn't need Creatine. Just eat a lot of meat and you'll get all the Protein, Amino Acids and Creatine that you'll need to grow muscle mass. And don't worry about eating some fatty cuts of beef. You'll burn those extra calories if you start training by running sprints.

Sorry. You wouldnt even make it on the HS school i played for. 145 pounds is VERY small. Unless you run like a 4.3 forty, you will not be able to do anything. Definetly not free safety, you are 5'9 145, you are not gonna gain 40 pounds in a year or 2 unless you juice (DONT JUICE). Small WR are only successful if they are 4.3 fast and have excellent hands. Corners have to tackle receivers, and rbs, some of which are 6'4 220 pounds. Speedback, no. What do you think will happen to you when a 230 pound LB or a 300 pound lineman tackles you full speed? Football is fun, I have played for 6 years. I was bigger than you when I was a freshmen in HS, but I was still small compared to some other guys playing my position.

Go for low weight and lots of reps for your legs and the opposite for your upper body. Don't waste your time and money with the creatine. Your body can only use so much creatine and you can get it all from a normal diet. If you have the means they have this bungee machine kind of like those Inflatable Basketball things where the cord pulls you forward faster than you can run. A lot of running fast is about muscle memory. IF you muscles don't know what running fast feels like then they can't run fast.

I was a running back, and then I switched to tight end. Weight wise, I tended to go with 8-10 reps of up to about 75% of max. Too little weight and too many reps tones ok, but it doesn't add a lot of muscle. To much weight and not enough reps, adds muscle and strength, but seems to hurt speed.
Do lots of sprints and agility drills, and try to do a lot of plyometrics. Explosive power, jumping, quick recovery those all helped my speed and quickness.
When I was 16 I weighed about 165, but with moderate weights, some boxing, some creatine, and lots of football, I was up to 190 by 17.

Well heavy weights low reps, but have a spotter and if you can't do all of the reps make them help you finish. If you can do all of the reps you aren't working hard enough. Muscle fatigue will set in and you won't be able to do it by yourself, but if the spotter can help you finish, then you will grow and become stronger.

To get stronger don't use routines from the top bodybuilding magazines , they are for individuals with superior genetics and/or are pumped up to the gowels with steroids!
I suggest you buy a book called beyond brawn! and visit www.hardgainer.com sign up there( it's free), and ask the same question there, the forum is frequented by very experienced strengh athletes/bodybuilders and you can get a mine field of info (as i said) for free!

heaviest weight and low reps. When you hit a plateau you need to go the other way to shock your body. then go back to heavy weight low reps. be sure to maintain flexibility training for obvious reasons, as well as cardio training
