If you need to get it out of your system, then buy a thing or two BUT definitely wait. I'm going on my 5th child and they may cover all the basis for you. Also if you did not get what you want, you can take things back - get store credit - then get what you really want. All for free.

Really, you are just excited. Congratulations!

I would wait until after the shower. This way, you can return duplicate and unwanted items and exchange them for the stuff you need. Also, you'll probably receive some money and/or gift cards that you can use to buy the stuff you need. And you'll probably get baby clothes at the shower and find that you'll need to buy fewer clothes afterward. As for the diapers, you could do what my friend is going to do for my shower: Get a gift card from a store and let guests know that if they bring a small pack of diapers to the shower, they'll be entered into a drawing for the gift card.

WAIT!!! you will be surprised at how much you get. I know it is so fun to go shopping for new little ones, but resist the urges. Sure you can buy a few things if you want, but I would wait to buy the majority of the stuff after the showers. That way you wont have a lot of things duplicated. And if you want to return somethings you can do that at the same time!
Good Luck and Congratulations!

I would wait until the shower because you buy something now you could end up with the same thing at the shower then you would have exchange it. If you wait until the shower then you can see what you still need to buy for the baby.

Before the baby is born I bought my daughter her going home from the hospital outfit that is it. A week before she was born I was dropped off 3 large garbage bags of clothes. For the first year and a half I didn't need to buy her anything. That happens with most people. The quality is fine becuase they don't wear anything long enough toget a lot of use out of it. Wait :-)

You could shop for cute little outfits you like, but don't go over board. Also, if you registered for your bottles and things, just wait until after the shower. Silly to play the return game if you don't have to. You'll get a lot more probably....swing, bouncer, pack n play, extra blankets, burp clothes, nuks, bottles, socks, sleepers, onesies and such are all really hot selling shower items. Good Luck!

You can never get enough diapers. If you want to stock up on something, diapers and formula would be the best things.

Your mother-in-law is right, though. Wait for the baby shower so that you know what you're NOT going to get. You don't want to expend anything more than what you can afford with a baby coming!

You can buy a few odds and ends here and there but ultimately i'd wait until after the shower. That will save you the stress of returning duplicates and such. You CAN go register at the store though to ensure you get what you want. So its kind of like shopping! :)

Wait to see what you get at your shower. Most of the time you get tons of clothes, and little of the necessities. If you buy any clothes, buy size 3 months and up since everyone loves to buy newborn clothes. If you don't breastfeed and want bottles, you don't know what kind of bottles your baby will prefer, so buy a few of everything, I had to exclusively pump and my son would only take and avent bottle (which I of course only had one of).

I would wait till after the showers and see what you might get - some people do not give money regardless of the type of shower - so wait to see what you will get - then buy - good luck@!~
