''I call on you not to hate because hate does not leave space for a person to be fair and it makes you blind and closes all doors of thinking,'' the letter said.

I dont think they will listen. I dont think it matters what he says.

He is a puppet of the American government up until his death apparently and thats why he wrote it. Pathetic.

Most people who know they are about to die, consider what they've done/achieved in terms of a legacy.

Saddam has always considered himself a warrior; and most warriors respect each other; it's based on an appreciation of the fields of battles. Regardless of who wins.

Some will say there are no victors; but that's escapism. Germany and Japan were defeated, and have since developed into roaring democracies which huge economies; US forces are still present on their soils, since 1945.

Iraq was relatively stable under his tyrannical and murderous rule, but even he is a student of history, and knows full well the potential for a successful Iraq democracy. He just wants to live and see it for himself, and pat himself on the back for being an instrument in its beginning process. Just a guess.

He is using it as a tactic. He knows hate abolishes logic and reason. Logic and reason are necessary for the people to pull together toward a common goal. Get the Bushie out of Iraq without having to give up the oil.

To gain World sympathy, he really doesn't care if Iraqis do, either way, he won't be alive to see it happen. It kinda sounds like Bush saying "staying the course will work", world leaders and their scrupulous lies, gives all a craving for more media.

I couldn't care less what Saddam says. I'm very glad he was deposed, and I won't care if he's killed. Too many other people in the world more deserving of paying attention to.

Well, it would seem, if this is true, that Saddam is resigned to his fate.

It's too early to tell whether the Sunnis and other Saddam supporters will listen.

It is typical Saddam sympathy-gathering. If anything, it will further enrage the insurgents.
