There may be a national day of mourning, but the stock exchanges will remain open. Maybe we won't get mail delivery if it's declared.

Tuesday 1/2/07 will be a Federal holiday as announced by the US Office of Personnel Management yesterday. The OPM news release is summarized below, and the full text is at the link.
Washington, D.C. -- By Executive Order of President George W. Bush, all executive departments, independent organizations and other agencies of the Federal government shall be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, as a mark of respect for Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States.

Traditionally, national days of mourning for the death of a former president are accompanied by the closure of nearly all federal government agencies.
Ref. Regan's national day of mourning (http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/06/06/reagan.main2/index.html) "Federal departments and agencies will close for the day, except those dealing with national security or essential services, under Bush's executive order."
From whitehouse.gov, the specific day of mourning for the death of former president Gerald Ford has not yet been declared, but will be in a subsequent presidential proclamation:
"I will appoint in a subsequent proclamation a National Day of Mourning throughout the United States"
As Ford's state funeral will begin Friday, 12/29 and concludes Wednesday, 1/3 with entombment in Grand Rapids, Michigan, any of the six days in this span could be declared the national day of mourning, but the day of entombment is most likely. Expect that Wednesday, 1/3/2007 will be a holiday for government workers.

Yes, according to whitehouse.gov, there will be a National Day of Mourning. Not really a holiday.
In a further expression of our national grief, I will appoint in a subsequent proclamation a National Day of Mourning throughout the United States when the American people may assemble in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President Ford.
Keep your eyes open on this website to see when Bush plans on having this National Day of Mourning.

Being a Fed, I remember we got 1/2 day off in 1994 when Nixon died and a day off a few years back when Reagan died.
I was thinking we would get some time off, but now after hearing of Ford's non support of the war in Iraq, Bush may snub him.
