They got me. True Story. This profile picture is actually what I look like after the government dealt with me. My world is grey and I have nothing but yahoo answers to live for - or to die for. They say if I get to level 8 in this I will either become God or I will have wasted my entire life on this.

I very recently spent a bit of time abroad in China and I got onto all of the internet sites (no problems) that people in the US have said was censored in China. (All except freetibet.org, lol).

It's a bit of a mix between actual truth and American propoganda. Yeah, sad truth is that the Chinese government does ban stuff on the websites. But it's not very much and there'll always be faaaar more stuff so they couldn't possibly censor it all. It's ludicrous to think that the Chinese government censors can be strict because from what I've seen, they're really not and no country, no matter how powerful, will be able to censor every negative thing about them on the internet.

If Yahoo really did get someone killed, they must've done something HUGE. There are 1.6 billion people (the 1.3 figure is terribly off) for the government to look after in China. That's a lot. So whatever those people have done to get themselves killed, it must've been really big to catch the attention of the government.

Plus, it is in America's best interest to keep the light on themselves and off on other countries. There's tons of negative things that don't get reported on in the States but receive attention outside of the country.

It's true, China have very strict censorship rules and Yahoo were not allowed to operate there without agreeing to enforce them. It was all over the news.

However, I dont think they actually report back what a person has been searching for, more then certain websites and search results are blocked.

Look it up Cheyenne - who's dumb now? And the first letter of sentences should always be capitalised.

I hadn't heard thta about Yahoo. I know that Google sold out, so that they could be allowed to operate in china.
if you go to google.com and type in 'tiananmen' you get 3 1/4 million hits, many of which deal with the massacre
if you go to google.cn and type in 'tiananmen' you get 81 thousand hits, none of which mention the massacre

Yahoo do not kill Chinee people, they merely provide incontrovertible evidence that specified Chinese persons are dangerous subversives and the Chinese do the rest.
Chinese persons should only use the internet for accessing Child Porn and other Chinese normal activities and refrain from searching for the thoughts of George W Bush,
