My little girl loves all the jarred fruits of course, but will only eat squash and sweet potatoes for veggies. I can't get her to take any greens, she's spits them right back out. Should I mix them with fruit, or what else can I do about it??

Alternate. Have a bowl of green beans and a bowl of her FAVORITE fruit. Give bite of fruit next bite green veggie next bite fruit. It will hopefully get some greens into her.

Good Luck!

our pediatrician recommended having them start on veggies only, and after all colors were introduced without problems, then give them fruit. but, since the horse is already out of the barn, so to speak, try mixing with fruit or mix a small amount into her cereal. we try to feed two kinds of veggies (half jar each) at lunch and dinner, and fruit only at breakfast, giving our daughter bites of the sweet potatoes & squash (which she loves) between bites of the green veggies (which she can take or leave). it took at least 10 tries to get her to eat green beans, and while they are still not a favorite, she will eat them now. keep trying - it will get better. :)

This is tricky, but usually it worked for me. I used to put the veggies on the spoon, then dip the tip of the spoon in the fruit. That way the kid tasted the fruit first, and wound up eating the veggies.

Yes good idea, mix them with fruit. I know it takes 10 tastes for a baby/child to acquire a new taste so add a little to the spoon with the fruit. Over time add more and more. It should work once they get used to tasting a few new things.

Most babies like the foods that are sweeter. The fruits, the dessert baby food, and squash and sweet potatoes because they're sweet. Stick with the foods that she'll eat, and keep trying new ones. Peas are sweet, carrots are pretty sweet, and I'm sure there are others. As for the "not so sweet" veggies, add fruit to it. It might look gross--but as long as it's goin' down who cares :-)

Yes, mix them with the fruit, that is what my doctor suggested for getting my son to eat the jarred meats that are so nasty.

How old is your girl? My daughter 18 months goes through stages. One week she loves veggies and then the next she doesn't. I have been told by the pediatrician that they keep this up for a while. Just keep trying to offer veggies to her and switch them up. My girl loves beets, green beans and peas.

I would put a small portion of greens in with her cereal. My baby was the same way and I wound up turning her orange from all the carrots she was eating. Or try mixing the greens with another vegetable and put them into her cereal, or blending them and putting them in her bottle. Good luck!

She is fine, don't force her to eat what she dosen't like. Introduce it one spoonful at a time, if she spits it out, try again the next day, she will get used to the taste and will eventually swallow.

Get one of those little blenders/choppers and feed the baby what you eat from the table. It will be must tastier. Just puree it.

My kids didn't eat "baby food" at all. We fed them from the table from the start. Trust me.... it tastes better to them! LOL

Best Wishes,
Sue
