If you really have the money to get a Sony PLAYSTATION3, go for it hands down. It has the largest collection of games that you can play without needing any extra equipment. You can play old Playstation, PlayStation 2, and of course, PLAYSTATION3 games. Also, it's the only one that plays Blu-Ray discs. Add in a high-definition TV and a HDMI cable, then you're playing and watching in 1080p defintion, if the media you're playing supports it. If you're looking for something that's not too expensive, but still fun, go for the Nintendo Wii. It can still play a lot of GameCube games, but you need a GameCube controller and memory card to play. Also, on the Wii Channels, you can download older Nintendo and Super Nintendo hits. If you're looking for something more upscale than the Wii, but don't have the cash for the PLAYSTATION3, go for the Microsoft Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 can play Xbox games, but not all. Check Microsoft's website to see which games it can't play. Xbox 360 has a large collection of first-person shooting games such as the upcoming Halo 3, and from the previous system, Halo 2 and Halo. All great games if you ask me. Xbox 360 doesn't have free online gaming like the PLAYSTATION3 either. If you're looking for the highest graphic gaming, technically, the PLAYSTATION3 has the highest output, as the Wii and Xbox 360 don't support HDMI output, the highest video connection currently available.

There are many differences in the gaming. The Wii hands down has the most family-oriented games; those which you could play at a party. The Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION3 definately are the pro-gamers consoles. They have the best first-person shooting games.

The Wii controller, called the WiiMote, is the most intuitive out of the three. It has the capability to detect 3D motion. If used carefully, and you follow the directions, being harmed shouldn't be an issue. Also, you can purchase the Wii Nunchuck for other games, it comes with one. You MUST purcahse the Wii Original Remote if you want to play the downloaded Nintendo and Super Nintendo games. The PLAYSTATION3, also has a motion sensing controller which can detect side to side motion, up and down, and shaking. The Xbox 360 can't do either of these. The Xbox 360 comes with two different controllers. The core system can only use a wired controller, while the premium system can use either wired or wireless controller. The PLAYSTATION3 and Wii use Bluetooth to connect, which allows for better connectivity and less interference. The Xbox 360 uses RF frequency, which is similar to remote controllers, although you won't get much interference, as the controllers use a different wavelength than other wireless devices.

The PlayStation Portable is a whole different thing. It would be catagorized as a handheld, competing with the Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameBoy SP, Nintendo GameBoy Micro. The PSP does have the longest loading times, but has the best graphics. Also, the PSP and DS have wireless connectivity, while the PSP has a internet browser, the DS does not. Nintendo does have the largest collection of handheld games.

Read on, log on to the different manufacturers websites, and do some research, couldn't hurt one bit.

Based on the fact that you already have a DS lite, i would say go for the Wii. A lot of the functionality on the wii is very similar to the DS, very pick up and play. True, the Wii does not have the best graphics, but I have played mine with HD cables on an HDTV and on a regular old TV and it looks great both ways. I also think that the Wii has the best line-up of games thus far. I own Zelda, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wii Sports, Trauma Center, Elebits, and Super Monkey Ball and I can say they are all great. The Wii also features compatibility with gamecube discs, future interactivity with the DS, and a service to download games from all previous Nintendo consoles.
The best feature of the Wii is by far the fact that it can be easily played with group of people of different ages and interests. Just order some pizza/tacos/chinese food, ask someone to bring beer (root beer if you're under 21) and you've got a party that will last until the Wii hours of the morning (sorry, couldn't resist a pun!).
Ok, last selling point for real, load time for discs is super quick on the Wii. You don't get bored waiting for it to start like you do with other consoles. This is the same for the web browser, which I found to be quicker than my computer at times.
b.t.w. on a personal note, the psp sux. I had one and it was fun playing around with all the neat little features for a while, but it got old quick...not enough good games.

First of all, you won't get a PS/3 or a Wii for a few months until the shortages/defects are dealt with so if you don't want to wait...

The XBOX 360 has lots of FPS / action games and good availability now. Also plays most XBOX games and DVDs. Make sure you get the Premium system.

The PSP is a great portable system (I'm thinking of getting one) with lots of arcade and puzzle style games. It plays movies, but they're in Sony's special disc format.

Both systems have on-line capabilities.

If you want a huge library of games (used and new) get a PS/2. It's a great tried-and-true system that plays DVDs right out of the box.

i'd say the WII if you can find one. tho it does lack graphics the controller is wayyyyyyy more interactive than the 360 and PS3 also i've had no problems at all with my WII and i've had it since the release playstation 3 and the x-box 360 do burn up and/or have problems that are currently being resolved so i wouldnt recommend either system........i have did research on the playstation 3 and its rating is only a B compared to the WII which has a A- rating due to the "poor graphics" the fact it has no dvd playback and the fact that there is no indictor that the batterys are low except when they are nearly dead and it pops up saying that

DS Lite rocks! Anyways, if you like handheld systems, get a PSP. Xbox is cool and the PS3 is kinda expensive but the games look awesome and it has great graphics. For the Wii, I wouldn't get it but it's cool.

For my opinon: You should get a PSP. :) Good luck!

First of all a PSP is a HANDHELD, not a console. And I actually would say get a Xbox 360, the PS3 is better, but right now it has a lot a bugs that Sony is still trying to work out. And also get a PSP, they are NOT a console, but they are a grest gaming device.
