If you plan on taking your baby to daycare when you go back to work, your best bet is to work until you deliver. Not only does it give you more time to bond and adjust to the new baby, but most daycare centers tend to refuse to take a newborn until they are least 6 weeks old.

Standard maternity leave is 6 weeks, so if you leave 4 weeks before you're due you only have until the baby is 2 weeks old before you go back to work.

If you have other days you can use up, vacation, sick days, paid time off, etc. then go ahead and take those to extend your leave.

Standard maternity leave is six weeks. Technically, you have no reason to leave any more than the week before you're supposed to deliver, or just wait until the doctor says that they will induce.

One of my co-workers just had a baby, and was here until the day before she went in to be induced. You've got plenty of time to take care of things, but employers frown when you leave too early.

Also, you're going to need as much time as possible to adjust to your new life with the baby, and two weeks is not enough. Trust me on this.

It depends on what kind of leave you are getting, how long, how much they are paying you, how long you can stay home etc. It also depends on how you are feeling.

Don't forget that if you feel you need to leave earlier than planned just talk to your boss, they will understand. You can also use sick days to make up for some days if you leave earlier than planned.

The primary concern is of course the baby and you, but it sounds like you are doing great. The next concern is finances, if those are fine leave whatever date you want! You know how much time you will want relaxing before the baby comes, of course sometimes baby's come early or late ;-)

Work as long as you possibly can so that you'll have more time off WITH your baby after the birth.

With my first, I worked right up until I went into labor.
With my second, my contract ended about 3 weeks prior to my due date.
With my third, I was a stay at home mom.

I work in an office and I am working up until 4 days before I deliver. I don't want to waste my time off laying around the house and shopping when I could use it to spend precious time with my baby. But it's up to you, but I wouldn't go any earlier, but again....up to you!! Good Luck though!!

I believe at 4 weeks is acceptable time prior to due date to take your maternity leave. If you feel up to working closer to your due date and are comfortable and your doctor is comfortable with it, go for it. Many women work up until delivery., SO its all up to you and your comfort levels.

Congrats!

I worked until Friday at 9PM (this was my last scheduled day because my due date was on Monday) and went into labor at 4AM Saturday morning.
