A friend of mine is going to buy a Cadillac XLR in a couple months. The XLR has a DVD player in the dash but you can only watch it while the car is in Park. He'd like for his young daughter to be able to watch a DVD while he drives. How can the safety feature be turned off?

The question wasn't "What is your opinion about watching TV while driving?". The was was "How?". The Cadillac has two seats... no back seat. The TV to watch, as was stated, was not for the driver but for the child in the passenger seat. Who in the hell would want to watch a Disney moving while driving?? Thankfully there's plenty of "Mr. Obviouses".

I am not familiar with the Caddy XLR...however...I am familiar with common sense.
The driver of any vehicle should not be watching a DVD while moving. I certainly would not want to be the driver of the other vehicle he hits because some B rated actress flashes her ta-tahs~nor would I want my child trying to cross the street while he is preoccupied with his viewing obsession.
The fact that he wants his young daughter to be able to watch a DVD while he drives is different....but..if she is a young child she belongs in the back seat..safe from air bags and in a car seat. This means that he needs to either upgrade to a car that has a DVD player available for the back seat passengers..or go to best buy and get one installed.
Good luck. Hopefully Cadillac was smart enough not to install a removable safety feature on this brain child.

You can not for the dash t.v for good reason. They don't want the driver to be distracted while car is moving. And even though most say they wont, how many times do you think people look at the t.v while someone else is watching even if they don't like the show??
Tell your friend to have one installed into the back of one of the rear seats or back of center counsel.
The dash one is wired into the whole vehicle security system and if messed with he could have bigger issues. I don't suggest this at all.

you opt directly to have the skill to observe DVD's on the MyGig gadget on the same time as using? OR Watch video clips on the VES gadget equipped into the front armrest? MyGig ought to probably be made to try this through disconnecting the twine that tells it that the motor vehicle is in action or utilising the computer programmer sellers have. even regardless of the indisputable fact that, that must be unlawful in maximum factors for a dealership to do & unlawful so which you may apply in that way. in case you're speaking relating to the VES, go see your shop clerk to describe it.

In some states it is ilegal to have a TV in vew of the driver while the vehicle is in motion. In any case it would be a stupid idea. Your friend would probably get destracted by the movie and crash.

Wow, your spoiled "friend" is raising a spoiled daughter. Why doesn't he attempt to bond with his daughter and talk to her, or turn on the radio like us "poor" people do.

illegally should just buy one of those portable separate DVDs you can use anywhere anytime and they are a lot cheaper to purchase and maintain.

You could probably somehow cut something or pull a fuse that will let you do this. I am not sure, just suggesting.
