has anyone set up their tivo wirelessly without buying tivo's special network adaptor?

it's a bit pricey! i would think the ones made for laptops (1/2 the price) would work the same.

I have mine hooked up with another brand and it has been working fine! Had it almost 2 years! They are all the same!

I tried to use another brand, actually 3, different wireless usb network adapters on my tivo series 2. They did not work! I broke down and bought one fron the tivo web site, hooked it up and been wireless ever since! It was 2 yrs ago, I payed 49.99 for it. If 50 bucks is to much...I don't know what to tell you.
