I do - most of the time. I read an article which mentioned the same thing. When you flush all sorts of germs come flying out - which is not a particularly good thing. But it went on to say that even if you do close the lid, the airborne particles with still be there waiting to hit you in the face when you open the lid (even if its a few minutes later)...

I always put the lid down, the 'specks' are high speed atomised particles which are not visible to the human eye.
Long before I was aware of this, my Father told me to get into the habit of always putting the seat down to ensure that I would never cause embarrassment when visiting the house of a married lady.

Yes, always fecal matter does fly about when the flush is operated, even though in minute particles. This lands all over the bathroom it favourite landing place being the head of your toothbrush. So remember that when you next clean your teeth.
Gives a whole new meaning to eating ****.

Yes, because according to experts when the commode is flushed it creates a nuclear-like mushroom cloud of particles. So rather than having that cloud free floating I close the lid.

On a recent "Megan Mullaly Show," a guest said that toilet water can travel up to 20 feet. So, if you don't want toilet water on your towels and toothbrush, put the lid down before you flush.

LOL @ Champagne ;)
Evaporated particles of urine and/or feces could float about out of the toilet if the toilet lid isn't down. This could then go on to your toothbrush and other hygienic objects... It is recommended that these types of implements are to be placed at least a meter from the toilet.

Yes - always!! Otherwise when you flush all the micro germs are forced upwards in minute water particles and come down to rest. Probably right on your toothbrush, or flannel etc
Nice
