If you put a check in, they will probably count the overdraft first. Sometimes if you put cash in, you can beat the time before they overdraft is caught. My bank doesn't charge if the overdraft is less than $5, but I have had other banks that charged anywhere from $20 to $30 for an overdraft fee, even for a couple of dollars.

You'll probably get a $35 or so overdraft fee. But as long as the overdraft was very minimal ($5) they should still pay out the item (check, debit, whatever) that you overdrew yourself with.

It may help to make a deposit (but if it's a check, it's not from the same account, is it??) If the bank processes deposits before withdrawls, you may be okay.
If not, you will probably end up paying fines for overdraft - between $10-$25 depending on your bank. (and hopefully there aren't other checks/withdrawls going to come through?)

Depending on the bank, if you wrote a check on non-sufficient funds, they will charge you a fee anywhere from $15.00 to $25.00 per returned check. In addition, if the fee happens to overdraw your account they can charge you a per fee overdraft charge of anywhere from $5.00 to $10.00 per day your account is overdrawn. It's best to get your check deposited right away so you are not charged a bunch of fees.

You need to put CASH into your account real quick. Hopefully you have overdraft protection. If not, you need to put in a bunch of cash into your account as fast as possible.
Stop writing checks. Pay your bills using your debit card linked to your bank account or by money order. This will keep you out of trouble.

If it is already overdrawn, it doesn't matter whether you deposit funds in now or not. Depending on the bank, and your history with that bank, they may either return the item for insufficient funds and charge you an overdraft fee, or pay the item and charge you an overdraft fee.
