Although increased nuchal thickness can be a sign of annueploidy (downs syndrome-trisomy 21 or Turners Syndrome-trisomy 18) sometimes this marker can be an isolated marker. If the docs did not see any other markers they may tell you not to worry. The only was to know for certain is by performing cvs or an amniocentesis. I have never had a baby with increased Nuchal thickness so I am not directly answering your question but I wanted to share with you what I know. Good luck and I wish you the best of luck

I'm not a doctor but I have a daughter an one on the way. Usually the test is to detect downs and spina bifida. I forget which one I think it may be the downs syndrome. Anyway thickness of the neck is usually an indication that the baby may have downs syndrome.
Like I said I'm not a doctor so wait and see what other more conclusive tests tell you. You can call your doctor and ask them what they think this might mean, what their plan of action is and why.

As a mother, I hate to give possible bad news. You better ask your doctor right away. This measurement is the nuchal skin fold measurement and helps to detect Down Syndrome. If the measurement is more than 5 or 6 mm, then it can indicate the possibility of Down Syndrome. If you or the baby's father are of advanced age, that can contribute to the increased possibility of DS as well. Good luck, sweetie.

When I was 13 weeks pregnant my baby measured 1.5mm which is considered normal. You didn't say your measurement so you can compare yours to mine. Anything over 3mm I would want to investigate more. Remember this test is only for markers to indicate "possible" problems. It's not written in stone that is why so many women bypass these tests. Even though my test says everything is normal that may not be true either.
Good luck :-)

Ultrasounds just give basically give a glimpse of how your baby will look but many changes happen before birth. So no, I would not worry. It would be different if they found some type of defiency which is not the case. And...
Congratulations!
