For younger kids who might be afraid of the noise and violence of Medieval Times, you could always go to the Rainforest Café in Grapevine Mills outlet Mall, about 15 minutes outside Dallas. If they've never been, they'll be thrilled and amazed by the realistic looking elephants and gorillas, the giant fish tanks, the huge fountain, and the jungle atmosphere and sounds. After dinner, you can celebrate the New Year's with a candle-lit "Volcano" featuring chocolate brownie cake, ice cream, fudge sauce, and candle "sparklers"!

Medieval Times is a great idea, but it depends on the budget and the age of the kids. If the kids are too young or picky eaters, i wouldn't recommend it. You can visit the downtown area and take rides on horse-drawn carriages or walk with everyone around the city while shopping, That is what my family does every year and its very fun and exciting. Of course, this option would be less entertaining for older kids, such as teenagers over 13.

What's wrong with a New Years Eve service at your church? If you don't have a church, go to somebody else's church. That's the best way for any of us to start the new year.
What a better way to guide them in the right direction?
