but ignore the massive female infanticide the killing of millions of female children in Hindu India and in China? Why do they focus on rape cases like Amina Lawal and Muktar Mai and Darfur raped by Muslim men in Muslim countries but ignore the mass rape of Muslim women in Gujurat, India in 2002 by Hindus or In Checyna by Russian Christians or in Bosnia and Kosovo by Serbian Christians?

Because they are inti-Islam. They do not care what happens to Muslims by non-Muslims. Nor do they care about most of what is happening in the rest of the world. Their main concern is how can we prove Islam is wrong and bad. This is the only thing that makes the news in the United States because the government pushes their agenda onto us so that we will continue to support a war that is wrong and not justified. We are not in Iraq for any reason other than oil and natural gas.

Because Islam is the focus of a lot of news right now, and has been ever since 9/11. For some people it "justifies" invading Muslim countries, even though, as you mentioned, horrific acts against women are being committed the world over. Also, it allows people in the Western world to shift their focus away from violence against women that is happening right here every day. It is a lot easier for many people to point fingers at people in other cultures rather than having to actually think about what is happening in our own.

Salam :) i'm a Muslim teenager living in Canada. I placed on hijab alhamdullilah and it somewhat is for the main section ordinary here considering i stay in an excellent city with a vast Muslim inhabitants. I do get the few ignorant comments and idiots in college although who ask stuff like "yo have been given a bomb under there hahaha". however the toughest section is being distinctive out of your friends. Being a Muslim, events, alcohol relationship boys donning revealing clothing etc is haram, and on an identical time as i do no longer choose for to try this besides, it somewhat is slightly awkward to could clarify why i do no longer do it to those that evaluate it in basic terms a ingredient of being a teenager and its elementary to them. Muslims living in Muslim international places actual have it much less puzzling while it includes setting up in. And with foodstuff it somewhat is slightly problematic yet I continuously attempt to study the label if i'm uncertain of the climate. yet i does no longer wanna be the different faith no rely how puzzling it gets and how distinctive i've got faith from all people else, i'm happy to be Muslim :)

Part of the reason could be that people only have so much time and/or money to devote to causes, so they can't address all the awful things that go on everywhere.

Part of it could be related to the belief that even if awful things happen in other countries those countries, themselves, may not condone those things. It could be that the Muslim faith calls attention to itself when it comes to its attitudes toward women, and as a result it may have attracted the type of attention it has.

Things aren't always "either/or". If I meet someone who is collecting for the Cancer Fund I'll give. If I meet someone else who is collecting for the March of Dimes I'll give to that too. If I don't happen to meet someone who is collecting for the Heart Fund I may not give until I do - mostly because I may not have thought of it.

One thing, though: The fact that non-Muslims care enough about Muslim women to try to do something about an awful situation they've been in shows they are valued as humans - and that's a nice thing. Maybe it isn't enough in this world where so many awful things go on, but it shouldn't be criticized either.

because those things are reported on as much.
discounting bosnia and kosovo- many have tried to help with those cases.

there have been global crack-downs on female infincide, naturally some countries won't listen but that's been a practice that has gained a lot of attention.

if the other cases could get in the news more, people would complain more. but I wouldn't hold your breath. The US has about 90,000 rapes a year ( and probally many more not reported) and we're the ones who yell at other countries to be civilized

Because they are hypocrites. They even accept the entire bible as completely Godly and right but will condemn what is only hearsay in Islam. For example, Lot is a greatly respected man in the bible. Yet he offered his daughters up to be raped by angels and then had children with his own children. No condemnation from them. The bible says women don't have any rights and that their very birth is a loss, as well as the fact that if she has a boy she is unclean for a week but the birth of a girl causes double the pollution. Islam does not say this. Even the age of Aisha at marriage is controversial among them. There are hadith about Aisha's older sister, Asma, who was 10 years older than her. Asma was 28 when Aisha got married. How could Aisha only be 6 if her sister who was 10 years older was 28? Non muslims scream pedophilia about a practice that was extremely common the world over in that time, but ignore the incest and rape and atrocities against women in their own bibles.

I was just talking about this the other day. The killing of female children in China and India, it is so sad that it still happens. It is even more sad it is socially accepted there.
I think what is more televised, is what issues alot of people complain about. The media has a way of making you want to believe that certain thing, and only that.

because as women we do not care what country it is..if our sisters are being brutalized regardless of their culture or religion we feel it is our responsibility to do something about it...as women we share a common history of opression and we feel we are connected by womanhood itself...

and you cannot say we ignore child infanticide and all of the above....it is just that our feminism becomes more projected toward islamic countries because in islam women are treated as nothing more than objects and of them in the street you see walking shadows shrouded in black...if not the burqah then the hijab at least...but both are a way of subjugating women and try as you may to defend it, what is true remains true...

but what you don't see my friend is that we are concerned about every crime inflicted against womanhood...it is only that muslim women have it worse....and yes it is not just in islamic countries...whenever there is a massive series of crimes against womanhood our attention becomes focused there it doesnt mean we forget what is happening elsewhere.

you dont have to be muslim to care about muslim women...just the fact that they are women is enough...they have not the power or courage most importantly to rise above this...we may hope to give them this courage and inspire this power that is womanhood to find its place in their minds.

as for themedia dont let it fool you...they have never encompassed all that is important making one important fact known is an accomplishment for them....you must use your own knowledge for it which can be gained through the combination of multiple sources....female infanticide by the way is the worst and words arent enough to express my concern about it.

Basically the western middle class women (feminists) that do this are typically doing it in an attempt to make western middle class men feel guilty about being men and additionally to promote misandry, all so they can position themselves politically to grab at more entitlements.

NO CLUE.. I sure don't complain... I couldn't care less actually... Too many things in my own country to help with and care about rather then talk out my A$s over some other country.
