Hey, good question. I know that Lady Sings the Blues is a classic to some of my friends. Personally I consider the movie The Doors with Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison and Meg Ryan playing Pamela to be a great film.

My top five:
- Lady Sings The Blues
- Sid & Nancy (ok so Mr. Vicious wasn't a "legend", but was a good film subject)
- The Buddy Holly Story
- La Bamba
- What's Love Got To Do With It

I liked Ray, What's Love Gotta Do with It?, and A Coal Miner's Daughter. I haven't seen Walk the Line yet. I think they should make one about James Brown.

Definitely Walk the Line. It had a romance story that wasn't sappy, the drama wasn't over done, the actors were awesome and of coarse...I love Johnny Cash.

My favorites are
"What's Love Got To Do With It" - Tina Turner
"La Bamba" - Ritchie Valens
"Ray" - Ray Charles
"Lady Sings The Blues" - Billie Holliday
"The Josephine Baker Story" - Josephine Baker
.. now if they would do Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke, I'd bring the popcorn!
hope this helps...

I especially liked Ray. The Buddy Holly Story was also exceptional.
