I've had my wallet returned twice, once over twenty years ago with over 400 dollars in it. I would definitely try to contact the owner and return it with all the money in it.

No. I'd turn it into the police with my information so if there is a policy of items not claimed after a certain time going to the finder I might get it then. If I did get it, that would be a nice bonus. If not, it wasn't mine to begin with so no loss.

But if I just kept it outright, I'd obsess over how awful a person I acted like and how to make it right.

Depends what the amount was and where it was left at. If it was at an airport or such, I would return it because law enforcement officials do trick like those to catch people in the act. If it was on the side of the road in a dead high way I would keep it. Simple.

The purse or wallet,,no. The money within, would go to a charity.

I would turn it in with the hopes that I would get a substantial reward. If not, I would still feel good about turning the money in because if it were me who misplaced my wallet, I would want someone to turn it in.

No, I'd turn it in. If it's not claimed within a certain period of time than its yours. I'd feel way, way too guilty to keep it and I'd just keep thinking about what I would feel like if it happened to me. If the rightful owner claimed it, I'd really appreciate a reward, though.

Probably not, I would look to see if there was an ID in it and give them a call or write a note and ask them to describe the missing item, then make arrangements to return it...

No. To keep it would greatly hurt someone else, and I would never want to do that. If I lost thousands of dollars (no chance, since I don't have thousands of dollars) I would be devastated.

Absolutely not. I don't have any right to that money and the person that lost that money deserves to get it back just as much as if you or I had lost any money.

Yes, finders keepers. Though I do not carry a purse . . .
