I skipped April-October- and December....
I'm 14 years old...
Is this harmful? Will I die?
In April, I had it on the 30th and it ended in the beginning of May. In October, I skipped it entirely. In December, I had symptoms, but no period. All I had was one spotting in December. Will I die??

No you wont die! calm down. Its normal that periods are irregular at the start, they will settle into a rhythm as time goes on;

You are very very unlikley to have a cyst!!!

No you will not die from skipping. There many things that can cause this, even stress. Make sure that you talk to your parents about this. If you have done so already talk to your doctor and schedual an appontment. It would be best to go to a gynecologist since they are specialist in this area. I know that you may be nervious about the unknown, but look at it this way it will be worth the piece of mind if all it is is stress. If there is a problem then you want to catch it early. Besides only your doctor can determine what it is. It is always a good idea to have an annual pap anyway. I wish you the best of luck.

My cycles were irregular from age 15 on. I usually only got 2 to 3 periods a year until I went on birth control pills at age 17 to regulate my cycles because of "hypomenorrhea" (hope that is the correct spelling), which just means I was lacking menstrual cycles. The synthetic female hormones in the pill cause you to have (usually) regular menstrual cycles.

It wasn't until I was 28 that I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome - don't worry it is not life threatening). PCOS is a problem with hormones - you typically don't have enough female hormones to release an egg, thus you can get cysts on your ovaries (I do not have ovarian cysts and you do not need to have cysts to have PCOS, the name of the syndrome is not exactly accurate). My OB-GYN was not very familiar with PCOS (most of them aren't) and I was referred to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (because I was trying to get pregnant and couldn't - don't worry yourself too much about that either; although this syndrome can make it extremely difficult to get pregnant, many women still can - with (and sometimes without) fertility drugs - I got pregnant on my own and have a beautiful son).

You should talk to your Mom or school nurse or another adult and tell them that your cycle has started becoming irregular and that you would like to see your doctor or an OB-GYN to monitor it because it can cause health issues if you go for over a year with no periods, I believe.

Look over this website and see if any of the symptoms sound familiar (note that you may have all, some or just the lack of a period). http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pcos.htm

Hope this helps! Don't worry!

No, you won't die and I don't think you have a cyst, at the ripe old age of 14. Your body just hasn't hit a rhythm yet. Some people never do, but you probably will, by the time you're 16, if your nutrition is good. Then in your late 40's it will go squirrelly again for a few years before it stops completely.

No, honey, you will not die!!! At your age skipping a period is entirely normal. Many girls experience the same. Your hormonal system is only starting. If you are unsure, see a doctor.

You aren't pregnant, just for the record. And this may be normal for you. Some women only get their periods every 3 months. I would suggest just going to your gyno for a check up just to make sure everything is okay.

No, you will not die! Your hormones are regulating. Sometimes your period will skip, sometimes it may last for 10 days...That's hormones for you.
