When I click on Internet Explorer it tries to load and gets 75% and freezes. I am unable to do anything except go to task manager and end task. The rest of my system works fine, if I try to load it again I get the same thing. It is my home PC and I have been using for several years with no issues, I have Norton Virus Protection and no viruses show. I am on dial up at home. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your Internet Service. Its probably peak period. Dial up seems to work best during the late hours. It can also be your access number. as a experiment try accessing through the nearest big cities Numbers even if its long distant. If you only pay a flat rate for phone service and this works for you switch to that number permanently.

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

You have not mentioned the operating system. however if you are using the windows xp then please turnoff the system restore option, then scan the disk, operate system file checker keeping the xp cd in your cd rom, then defragment the drive, then go for scanning the whole system with latest or updated antivirus, trojans and spyware and malware, please uncheck the indexing services in the background. restart the system . when you feel your system is working well, then go for turning on the system restore. unncessary services in the background and indexing serivices eat a lot of memory and time so please disble the indexing service.

Your IE might be corrupt.

Try another browser like Opera or Firefox or Netscape. If they work fine, then it is IE and you will need to reinstall.
