I know there are different types of goldfish (bubble eyes, fantails, etc.), and i want to know if I have 2 different types in the same tank, will they mate? I want a variety but I don't want them to breed. Thanks!

goldfish are compatable with any type pf goldfish, however, from personal exeprience, I would keep species together that are of similar size and body shape. This prevents fin nipping and poor food distribution.

You need two gallons of water per inch of goldfish. You base the measurements off the ADULT size of the goldfish. IF you have aone inch goldfish, it will survive as long as you have enough water for it now. However, goldfish grow quickly, and if you only ever have the minimum, you will be fighting water quality issues for ages, wasting money on upgrading to slightly larger tanks, and stressing out your fish, stunting its growth and compromising the health. Save you moeny and get the big tank, it will save you money and frustration in the long run. Here are some size requirements.

Ryukin, Oranda, Telescope, Moore, Celestail Eye, Pearl Scale, fantail, and bubble eye should all have 20 gallons+ PER goldfish

Shubunkins, common comets, Sarassa Comets- should have 30 gallons+ per goldfish

Koi are carp, not goldfish. They require 50 gallons+ per koi. They are not tank fish, they are pond fish. A 55 is too narrow and too shallow for the fish to survive.

Hope that helps.

sorry, i know you didn't ask for the lecture! Short answer, yes, you can.

Goldfish require pretty specific temperature ranges and enviroments to mate. It's unlikely that they'll do so, though different breeds are compatible.

More importantly, consider the strengths and weaknesses of your fish before you put them together. The mroe a fancy goldfish looks like a regular goldfish in body structure, the better it will be at swimming. this means it's likely to get a lot more of the food than other more ornate goldfish. Also, celestial eye, dragon eye, and bubble eye goldfish are at a disadvantage to all other goldfish, and should be kept seperate, because their eyes tend to be attacked.

- you're overstocked because it somewhat is. - uncomplicated goldfish desire seventy 5 gallons in line with fish, a team is greater effective in a pond set up. - Fancy goldfish desire 20 gallons each and each, and 10-15 added gallons for an added fancy. - Goldfish at the instant are not training fish so they are in a position to be saved on my own. - the rule of thumb "they could constantly be a minimum of in pairs" isn't constantly authentic, now and returned one will basically continuously bully the different. in case you maintain a team you desire a minimum of four-5 so as that any aggression could properly be the two unfolded between them and not basically centred on one guy or woman. - Goldfish desire double filtration.
