I guess what I'm trying to say is "What is your personal definition of trust?"

Trust is the allowance for the possibility that the person I am engaging with socially can be helpful to me. When trust is broken, that allowance is not permissable, so that the person approaches each relationship/encounter with the notion that 'eventually, this person will hurt me.'

It does not mean that having trust means being completely positive either: it simply allows each individual encountered to be judged based upon their own actions and behaviors, not the past or future behavior of others.

You can rely on someone or something about something. Trust doesn't really mean you trust someone about everything. Example: I trust a friend that he'll keep any secrets I would share with him, but I don't trust that he'll be able to help me do schoolwork better.
