Twice (Nixon's and Reagan's funerals) there were 1 current and 4 former presidents at the funeral. I would imagine it doesn't happen too often, as it makes a logistical nightmare for Presidential Protective Details. Reagan sent 3 former Presidents to Sadat's funeral in the 80's. That's the only other occasion I recall where that many of them were together.

I don't think so.

There have been periods of time when there were NO former presidents alive. I remember when I was a kid, Truman, and then Johnson, died (early 1973). Nixon was president and NO former presidents were alive. After he resigned, of course, there was a former president alive, as there has been since.

I think Truman and Ford died on the same day - December 26 (Truman in 1972). This is just from memory.

I believe the Nixon funeral set a record for the most former US Presidents at one location and the Reagan funeral merely tied it. For the first time since since Reagan's final day in office in 1989 there are only 3 living former presidents.

No. 4+1 happened but not 5+1.
Never before were this many ex-presidents alive as in our lifetime.
