Add raw sugar to the water you have them in and cut the stems at an angle rather tham straight across - this helps the sugared water seep into the stems better.

I cannot comment on adding stuff to the water, but I imagine that the additives that come with the roses will work just fine, or you can likely find something similar at your local florist shop or nursery. However, I can comment on how you can care for the roses aside from, or in addition to additives. Many people don't realize that the bottom portion of the cut stem actually gets clogged with all sorts of stuff, preventing the water from getting up to the flower (not just roses). One of the things that cut flower stems can often get clogged with is bacteria, which will be in water in larger quantities the longer it sits. So, the solution to this is to change the water every single day, and to re-cut the stems every single day (cut them at an angle). Fresh water and fresh cuts daily. You can also try the additives, but don't forget the fresh water and cuts.

Always cut the stem under water and use warm water. When a stem has been exposed to the air the little tubes in the stem fill with air and prevent the water from going up to the flower. Place the stem underwater and cut off at least an inch if you can. Leave it there to drink up all the water it needs and then transfer to another vase if you need to. Best if you just leave in that container.

Buy plant feed, mix it in the vase in question, and it will last longer. Don't use all of it at once if you can help it. If u buy the roses it will come with a small packet.

The florist told me the best way is to change the water everyday. This will let them last at
least 10 days to 2 week's. It works and it's worth the beauty.

use cold water! i know your probably like "cold water?" who the hell uses cold water on flowers........every florist does. warm water is absorbed in the stem faster and causes the flower to bloom faster and also die faster. you don't even need any kind of plant food, just use cold water. i guranteee you it will last about 3 days longer than normal.
