My fiancé and I had an unprotected sex and we regret doing that. Her periods usually come around the 15 or 17 of every month but this month her period never came, so we did the pregnancy test using the e.p.t test on December 25, 2006 during Christmas after 8-10 days after her missed period and the results were negative.

My question is that how accurate are the results? did she take the test at the right time or was it to late, should she take another pregnancy test? If so which one is best recommended? What are the chances that the results are not correct? The result only showed as “pregnant “ or as “not pregnant.” Please answer this question. She still have not had her period.

as far as i know the tests are more reliable after the following 1st or 2nd day of her (non bleeding) period. if it is negative, they advise to repeat it 1 week later again.
if she have a blood test to measure HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone which refers to a kind of hormone excreting in case of pregnancy or HCG's beta version (ßHCG'), the levels at the results will say something clear about pregnancy.
it will be better to consult a doctor as soon as possible. best wishes.

Well, I am going to try to help ya'll out. Have her to take another one but in the morning when she gets up. That way all the pregnancy hormones will have been sittting all night long. And I know a couple of people that have told me they took pregnancy test and it said they were not pregnant and when they went to the doctor the y actually were. I have 5 kids and with all of them I have used the store brand pregnacy test they work just the smae as the name brand. Well good luck to you all. Which ever way it turns out.

PT should be taken in the morning. They have a pretty high accuracy rate, so she probably isnt pregnant. Depending on how young she is, her periods my not be regular. Also.... The stress alone from KNOWING she had unprotected sex might be causing her to be late. I suggest, that unless you want to go through this every single time you have unprotected sex- that you use protection.

Don't delay she should go for an anonimus blood test, even a urine test should do. Do it the home tests are usually accurate but don't trust them 100% .

Maybe she should go to the doctor and get a blood test. Then you'll know for sure.

e.p.t is a good one...although, sometimes they are wrong.....I would wait a few days and try another one...if it still says negative and still no period....I would make a Dr. Appointment!

She should probably take another test (or two), but it coould also be stress causing her period to be late.
