No way. He is one of my heroes. He expressed his right to freedom of speech. Everybody should be able to say whatever they want. Words cannot hurt us unless we let them. My other heroes are Mel Gibson, The Dixie Chicks and anyone else who tells the truth and stands up for what they believe in.

No. Yes don't faint.. a black person said NO he is not a racist.

He is stupid and wrong wrong wrong for doing what he did, but no. If everyone that ever used that word in anger was considered a racist, then almost every single one of us would be. I am not cutting him any slack he screwed up big time and has some making up to do. And from the looks of him on Letterman the night after, he needs some rehab or counselling. The fact that he did a lot to try to make amends says something to me. People make mistakes, some bigger than others, but thats the definition of being human. At least he acknowledged that he sucks and tried to open a dialogue between the races. Which is more than most real racists will ever do.

Seinfeld has been over for 8 years now. People need to stop saying a boycott of Seinfeld because of Michael Richards. Geez. The show has been off the air almost as long as it had been on.

I don't think so. Mentally ill or unbalanced, yes. But a racist, no.

Anyone who goes off like he did on any subject, not just race, is not right in the head. He reminded me of one of those crazy homeless guys who stand on a street corner yelling obscenities at people or passing cars.

Yes, but who really is not? Even all those 'celebrities with their black babies' have some racism in them whether they admit it or not. Even, you, sitting at home and reading this, have some racism in you. I can speak from personal experience and tell you that I do and evidently more people have some racism in them too, because it is a constant issue that appears in our media. This sort of hatred comes out when people's guards are down (like when drunk). Having racism in anyone is dangerous, because of what it can do, but this intercultural world we live in has been addressing racism since animals could respond to one another. It is unfortunately natural, like any other form of hatred. It is sad when it controls a person or even goes as far as to act out aggressively and attack another person, like verbally or physically. I may feel no difference to being treated by an African-American doctor, but it certainly would make a difference if I became romantically involved with a person of a difference race.

Michael Richards, famous or not, should be treated like any other human with his human feelings and tendencies. Yes, he is racist and he acted highly inappropriately, but should he barred from society? It reminds me of drinking while under the influence. Millions of people around the world from all different walks of life do this daily and when someone gets caught or involved in an accident, society shuns them, but what separates those caught red-handed from those of us who leave a party with one too many?

Yes, he is and he should pay for it. He may have apologized but that does not take back the pain the some pepole feel. The truth comes out eventually and we all know deep within that he is

I don't think so, however, that word would never come out of my mouth so I could be wrong. I think it was just frustration and anger management issues though. They were heckling him. As a stand up comic though, he should be used to that and should be able to deal with it less hostile.
