Gerald Ford enjoyed a politically historic life, most of which to this day remains understated. Ford was the political darling who chaired The Warren Commission, who investigated--and many now say--covered up what really happened in JFK's assination.
It's highly likely Ford took to the grave with him the TRUE facts about the JFK murder.
A favor given is one owed: Ford was the first vice-president to assume the Presidency due to Nixon's resignation. Ford's first act as newly sworn in President was to pardon Nixon, shielding him from any further investigative proceedings from Watergate--or subsequent prison time.
And from there, Ford's term in office went by rather uneventfully.....until he was caught on camera, stumbling down the steps of Air Force One. In that instant, Chevy Chase (of Saturday Night Live fame) was given his characterization of Gerald Ford, Presidental stumbler.
Post presidential retirement saw Ford's wife, Betty, bravely come forth with admissions ( likely pressured by Ford's political enemies) of being an alcoholic. This event gave rise to the creation of The Betty Ford Clinic, a drug/alcohol rehab center whos main clientele are rich movie / film star celebs.

Gerald Ford's death is a big loss to Betty Ford and the Ford family. But to the rest of America, it really doesn't matter.

i met the man in atlanta, georgia in 1976. i will never goret how really nice and down home he was.
