I'm not entirely sure but I'm figuring the same amount as a Water Mellon and a water Pistol..ha ha

Water buffalo have no gills as they are sub-members of the bovine family....however, there is a fish called the "River Buffalo" also known as a Gasper Goo, a sheepshead, silver bass, a grinder, a croaker or more commonly, it is referred to as the Freshwater Drum. I couldn't find out how many gills it has, but I'm guessing it's the average number for a fish. (??) Good luck with your buffalo research!

The Water Buffalo is a very large ungulate and a member of the bovine subfamily.

No member of the bovine family has gills!
