This is very common in uncircumcised men. Smegma is formed by fat, dead cells, urine trapped by the foreskin, sweat and germs.

It must be washed away at least twice a day to keep the penis clean, otherwise it can lead to urinary infections and other virus-related problems.

Circumcision is a good way to avoid smegma problems, as circumcised men never get this 'white stuff' or the smell associated with it.

You know something.....I've heard about "Head Cheese" & "Smegma" all my life, but haven't actually seen anything like that. It's an amaxing thing to me because afterall I am uncircumcised....and supposedly I should know what it looks like. The thing is that I was taught from childhood to always be hygiene-conscious particularly with my privates......and I've always been faithful to what I was taught. So I have no idea what it's like. But I do know what I've read about it, and it seems that smegma is a result of poor or inconsistent hygiene. When you don't wash or bathe correctly on a regular basis, the accumulation of urine residue, perspiration, and even semen residue underneath the foreskin will cause you to produce the cheesy-consistency by-product called smegma.
If you have experienced this situation then I strongly suggest you give more and consistent attention to that particular area during bath time. If for some reason you happen to have a hormonal situation which creates this situation moreso than in other men, then I suggest that you keep a little pack of "Wet-Naps" in your back pocket. This way, every time you use the the bathroom, you can wipe yourself clean.......and you'll always feel more sure of yourself in that department.
Basically, it's all about "Soap & Water".....with regularity!
Best of Luck!

It's a mix of different humors - pee, precum, umidity, death cells - trapped under the foreskin. Maybe you don't realize that it only is a sign of bad hygiene and cleanliness!
It becomes passable when after the usual wash, (before going to bed), then you can found it in the awakening. But generally who gets such problem should wash penis more times a day!
A lot of boys just think that it's a so intimate matter because somebody never could look inside their underwear!
Instead, sometimes facts of the live can then be unexpected and unannounced!

Dead skin cells and other decomposables. Some people are never taught to wash under their foreskin by their parents. I found out myself at school. My friend, who must have been looking when he shouldn't, made the comment- 'Get it washed you dirty so and so.' So we sometimes find out the hard way. It needs to be washed with soap, water and fingers only. Using a cloth or sponge can cause an infection.
