I've checked network connections, and all of that, but I can't seem to change it! Can anyone give step-by-step instructions on how to make it static? Thanks!

go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
Right click on your connection, select properties
select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) select properties
check the radio button (the little circle)
add the static IP address you want to use
make sure you put in your defualt gateway
your preferred dns will be the same as your gateway
you can leave the Alt dns blank
Hope this helps
