Brits who say 'Barcelona' in a fake Spanish accent?

they don't say Liverpool in a fake scouse accent or Newcastle in a fake geordie accent, or even London in a cor blimey guvnor accent'

so why the fake accent for foreign cities???

we've Queens English, Scots, Welsh North and South, Northern eire, Brummie, Scouse, Lanky, Tyke, Geordie, East Midlands, Norfolk, Oxford, Estuary (as in Thames Estuary) Hampshire, West united states of america and Cockney. Then there are the sub accents from differing areas of each area. So which one precisely do you have a subject with!

Sometimes I think they do it to try and make themselves look more important than they are, or maybe they are just trying to fit in with the culture. Some people have the view all places should be called as they are in their home language and shouldn't be translated but I think it has gone to far for that now. It can be really annoying though if someone throws it in mid conversation

it's a matter of pronunciation: sometimes people don't understand what are you talking about if you don't pronounce something as it is in it's mother tongue.
a few days ago i was talking to a girl from Spain and I sed Madridians for people from Madrid (as you would,logically), but she didn't know what have I said. they say Madrileños.
