Voldemort killed Harry's parents but also indirectly involved was Wormtail since he told the dark lord the location of Lily and James' location.

Lord Voldemort... right after Professor Snape (once a Death Eater) told him about a prophecy that involved Voldemort and a boy who would be born at the end of July... the prophecy talked about how this boy would be the only one capable of killing Voldemort and that he would be marked as his equal.... so, Voldemort killed harry's parents , but when Lily Potter sacrified herself to save her son, Harry was protected and was left with the famous scar (the mark that made him equal with Voldemort).

Lord Voldemort killed Harry's parents on October 31st 1981 with the Adava Kedavra Curse. It is rumored that Peter Pettigrew was with him since he (Peter) was the secretkeeper and was the only one who was able to find the Potters.

Voldemort but it was Peter Pettigrews (Wormtail) fault. Wormtail was Lily and James secret keeper and told Voldemort where they were hiding. Everyone blamed Sirius for it because they thought he was the SK but they switched at the last minute.
