I think you're thinking of Jason Aldean for that Jason guy.
As for good songs, I find anything by Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Reba, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban,Brad Paisley, Lonestar (might want to try to get that song Amazed for your boyfriend. That's always a good one). They're always good for some good contemporary songs. Especially Garth Brooks. :D He's my favourite.

you should get a little montgomery gentry trace adkins (honkytonk badonkydonk) big and rich (save a horse ride a cowboy) and well just listen to a country station for a little bit and see who they play over and over and some that you like also
