Do you support amnesty for undocumented immigrants in the United States?

It's funny, I didn't mention any particular race of undocumented immigrants, but right away everybody starts talking about Latinos - in particular Mexicans.

I think that this proves that racial prejudice is the root of much opposition to immigrant amnesty - some of you make that very clear in your answers.

If most undocumented immigrants were White, I suspect a lot of you would welcome them with open arms!

For those who speak of "assimilation" - historically, America has only assimilated White immigrants.

I'm African American - we've been here almost 400 years, and we speak English, but we were never allowed to assimilate.

Mexicans have not been allowed to assimilate either, because most of them are brownskinned.

So spare me the nonsense about how the Mexicans "refuse to be assimilated" because you know as well as I do that White America will not let them assimilate!

Of course, this country was established by undocumented immigrants - today's guys are at least not trying to exterminate us and occupy the country like the original ones did.

i'm a 1st Gen Mexican-American or maybe i think that the issue could be solved by employing deporting the unlawful immigrants, then securing our borders, the two north and south. Then we are able to attempt making the the criminal immigration technique greater handy, with the aid of fact heavily, maximum human beings do no longer additionally be attentive to the solutions to those questions. The regulation is that if any Cubans land on our soil without being captured in the water before, then they are rapidly made electorate. additionally in the event that they are working from Cuba, then they are no longer communists. regardless of if i'm a 1st Gen Mexican-American, my roots hint me back all a thank you to Germany on my father's side, and Italy and Spain on my mom's side. enable's no longer make it a race conflict, and in case you probably did, you would be against your own with the aid of fact we are an analogous. no longer that any one right this is making it.

Absolutely there should be amnesty for certain criterias, not all illegal immigrants are jumping fences or robbing the system many people have heridatary right to be here and have fallen into one restrictive criteria or another because of over excessive restrictions and non realistic filing times

To the person below do you really think it only takes a year! LMFAO It takes 3-5 years just to look at your application then a further 5-7 years to wait for a visa all in all as long as all your i's are dotted and your T's crossed you are looking at a wait of 12-13 years I have an American father and Grandmother and I am financialy secure and do not need to work and I have waited 17 years so far.

So get real on the 1 year time frame if it was that easy everyone would apply.

depends...
If they have a clean history (no crimes, etc) and have been for a long time in the USA they should have amnesty.
I'm from a latin american country, I don't live in the States, and I understand your problem, that why should americans have to mantain so many undocumented immigrants that arrive daily. but on the other hand, people that have being working and living for more than 7 yrs, should have amnesty.

No, I do not support amnesty for undocumented immigrants. That will just make a mockery of the legal immigration process.

No. Why should someone be rewarded for cheating the system? I think that those here, should be given a year to go through the proper channels of securing their citizenship the legal way. There are all sorts of people that would love to be in this country, but do not have the "privilege" of simply walking across the border.

If you really want to be in this country and your intentions are good, than you should go through the proper channels. Period....the end!

NO! Send them home they do not belong here. Too much of my taxes have already been spent supporting them.
Are we to pick and choose which laws must be obeyed? If they get amnesty, let me and other citizens pick which laws we would like to ignore. Possibly not pay taxes or pay for things, maybe we should just go to Best Buy when we need stuff for the house and have them give it to us.

No I do not. There are a great many people who have come to this country legally and contribute to society. There are certain legal ways to migrate and these people should follow them. I do not support any type of community resources or benefits for anyone illegal. It takes away fron our own citizens,

HELL NO! It may be different, if they wanted to be Americans, but they don't! They want to come here, make money and send it back to Mexico and then move back there themselves! They don't want to learn English or become assimilated at all! If they had their way, they would just make America more of Mexico. They want everything wonderful we have here, without paying for it and without having to defend our country! SO HELL NO! Take everything they have here away from them, let their babies die, and send them back to where they came from!

no.... I think that the background checks they do when you apply for citizenship are very important (sexual and criminal).... not to mention it's not very fair to the people that actually went through our legal system to become citizens.
Don't get me wrong if I lived in most of those countries- I would run like h***!
