I think that Jennifer blew Beyonce out on Dreamgirls. Though through promotions Beyonce, Jamie, and Eddie's face were seen the most. I think Jennifer is a GREAT actress and singer! She's the one that made the movie alive. People were clapping in the movies when she was done singing. It was a great feeling after watching her. I didn't even know who she was until after watching this movie. What do you think?

Jennifer Hudson without a doubt. I've heard that Beyonce and her father have been in a tizzy because Jennifer was getting a ton of hype leading up to the release. Well, now we all know why. She was totally awesome!
Beyonce to me is just what "Curtis" said about her character Deena in the movie "no personality." Beauty, but nothing really behind it. It is time for her to let someone else have an opportunity to shine. She isn't used to that at all.
In some ways this movie not only paralleled the Diana Ross and the Supremes story, but also the Destiny's Child story. Beyonce is a diva who needs to recognize that there is other talent that may be better than hers. Last but not least, the movies I've seen Beyonce act in tell me she isn't a quality actress, and that she should stick to singing.

Have to agree with all of you. Jennifer was the true star. If we needed any proof that the award shows are just about money then we have all the proof we need. Their is no reason what so ever why Beyonce should be getting best actress over Jennifer H's best supporting. I think Effie even had more screen time not to mention a better performance.
I know outside of the American Idol world Jennifer Hudson was an unknown, but not anymore and her star will rise even farther for the double injustice she has faced. First she lost American Idol and then she was demoted to supporting over someone who did a fine job but doesn't deserve the same praise as the person who really made this movie.

I think that comparing Beyonce and Jennifer is like comparing apples and oranges BUT since you asked...
Jennifer did the unthinkable with her rendition of "And I Am Telling You..." and ROCKED IT. While no one can ever do it like Jennifer Holliday, Jennifer Hudson did the best job of paying tribute to the original version.
"Listen" is an new song that is not in the original play. While Beyonce sang well (as she always does), the emotion was lacking. In my opinion, you didn't root for her when she sang the way you did when Jennifer sang.
So, to answer your question, Jennifer was better.
PS. There wasn't enough of the talented Anika Noni Rose either. I would have loved to hear her sing an entire song, as her character did in the original Broadway show.

i totally agree with you..i think it is really messed up that the golden globes nominated Beyonce for best actress and jennifer for best supporting actress when clearly jennifer was the star of the show, the acting, the singing, the emotion..she blew me away..i like beyonce dont get me wrong..but i feel as though she is getting more attention for this movie than she should..she didnt act that much, and when it was her solo moment to sing "listen" she didnt portrayed the same emotion and intensity as jennifer did. When i saw the movie and jennifer sang..at the end everybody clapped for her, not for beyonce.

Jennifer Hudson all the way. Her scene singing "and I am telling you" was really good. Beyonce has a good voice but not the best actress. I though Anika Noni Rose was the best actress of the bunch. The other two are just singers.

Jennifer Hudson, period.
Deena, Beyonce's role, could've been played by anyone. She didn't stand out in my opinion and that solo she had wasn't in the original play. I say it was a lame attempt to put Beyonce in the spotlight.
Sure, Beyonce's the bigger star in general, but Jennifer Hudson made THIS movie. Without her, it wouldn't have been that spectacular. Just my $0.02.

You know what I don't get? How Jennifer Hudson got eminated from Ameican Idol. They were and still are missing out on a beautiful, amazing voice. Jennifer was the whole movie. But have you noticed how Beyonce was popping her vains out just to be as good as Jennifer? She vain popping. She's vain vain popping [sing this in the tune of show stopper].

Jennifer ...DEFINITELY! Beyonce is getting all the promotions because of who she is and what she's done in the past. I personally don't think she's that good of an actress or singer. Jennifer sings with her heart & soul and she is beyond spectacular!

Jennifer Hudson took the show or should I say stole the show. That young lady got my attention the first time I saw her on American Idol. I was a fan from then on and now she has proved herself to Simon and everyone else. The voice has always been very strong. Who does America think is the Dream girl?
